Our Goal
|
It is the desire of the United Presbyterian Church to have a meaningful impact on
Cañon
City and
Fremont
County residents, changing hearts and lives through the truths of the Bible and the example of Jesus Christ. We focus our ministry on Christ as God’s Word made flesh, seeking to serve others and exemplify His love and grace in all that we do.
At UPC, we want to meet you where you are. If you’re seeking, we want to help you find answers to your spiritual questions. If you’re a new believer, we’ll nurture you with Biblical truths and community in Christ. If you’re maturing in your walk with God, we want to help you develop an even deeper, more intimate relationship with Him.
Sunday Services
Because we’re saved by grace, we can gather in joy. Our worship services are designed to meet your needs through music and praise, so choose the service that best fits you and your family. Join us at 8:30 a.m. for our contemporary worship led by UPC’s Praise Band, or attend our traditional 11:00 a.m. service with hymn favorites and organ accompaniment. Both services contain a hopeful, relevant message from the Pastor, and nursery and childcare services are available every Sunday from 8:15 a.m. to noon. In addition, children ages 4-8 are welcomed in Children’s Church following the praise portion of our 8:30 service.
Dress casually, and come prepared to be moved by the Holy Spirit as we seek to share messages of hope, truth and the love of Christ—then join us for coffee, refreshments and fellowship after the 11:00 service.
Special Services
In addition to our weekly worship time, we join together at 7:00 p.m. for several special services throughout the year, including Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and our Christmas Eve candlelight observance. You won’t want to miss these unique opportunities to join with the UPC family in worship and praise.
Midweek Activities
God has called us to a life of community and fellowship with others, and at UPC we’re taking Him seriously. There is always something happening here, and we invite you to become involved in our ministry teams, outreach efforts, youth activities, Bible studies, small groups and church-wide events. Check our calendar for weekly meeting times. |

United Presbyterian Church History
In 1867, soon after the Civil War—the first of three Presbyterian churches was organized in
Cañon
City. In 1966, these three worship communities merged into our present church, adopting the name “The United Presbyterian Church.”
While the present building was constructed in 1902, it has undergone extensive renovation. 1925 saw the addition of a church office, and in 1974 we added a kitchen and choir room. Our beautiful Memorial Chapel was built in 1987 at the southeast corner of the property, and we purchased additional land in 2003.
We’re a growing community of Christ followers dedicated to outreach and the expansion of God’s kingdom, and we welcome visitors of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life to join us in worship, fellowship and friendship.
