What are the main differences between your two Sunday services? |
It is the music and worship style that distinguishes our 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services. While the sermon is essentially the same at both times, our 8:30 service is more contemporary. Led by our Praise Band, we worship to a modern collection of songs designed to honor God in an exciting, personal way.
The chancel choir is an integral part of our 11:00 a.m. worship service. You’ll enjoy hymns and music as the choir and organist lead the congregation in an atmosphere of reverent, traditional worship.
Ephesians 5:19 reminds us to "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
No matter which worship style you prefer, our hope is that you’ll be drawn closer to the living God when you attend services at UPC. |

What should I wear to church? |
We want you to be comfortable when you worship with us. Some of our members dress up, and others choose to be casual. Come as you are, and remember, "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7). |

What is communion, and when is it celebrated? |
Communion is one of the sacraments celebrated by the Presbyterian Church. It is a holy time of worship when we come together to partake in bread and juice, representing Christ’s body and blood that were shed for us on the cross. Open communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month during both services. A special seasonal communion is also held during our annual Maundy Thursday service.
The UPC communion table is open to anyone who has declared Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. Children may also participate in communion if their parents deem it appropriate. |

Can you explain the sacrament of baptism? |
Jesus commanded that we “believe and be baptized.” Through baptism, we make known our commitment to be followers of Christ. At UPC, both adults and children may participate in the sacrament of baptism. |

How do I schedule a wedding or a funeral? |
Wedding arrangements must be approved by the pastor, and guidelines are available in our church office. After scheduling the ceremony, our church wedding consultant is available to assist couples in making specific ceremony arrangements. Funerals are typically scheduled through the participating mortuary, but family members may contact the office to inquire about service specifics. Small services are held in the chapel, and larger services take place in the sanctuary. The church deacons will also provide family meals, as requested. |

I want to join the church. What should I do?
Simply notify the Pastor or any of the church elders. The only requirement for membership is that you confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. A group of three or more elders will meet with you following any worship service to complete the process and welcome you into membership.
